With cruises beginning again in certain places in the world, and lock-downs restarting in others all during the beginning of the vaccine, people are wondering what they can expect from cruise lines. One of our main questions were -- what can we expect for Royal Caribbean's private island, CocoCay?
After doing some research on Royal Caribbean's current safety guidelines onboard Quantum of the Seas in Singapore, which is the only cruise from the cruise line that's currently running, I have gathered some predictions on what rules we could see being enforced on Coco Cay when the island eventually reopens to ensure the safety of Royal Caribbean's guests.
But first, there's one burning question that we all want the answer to:
When will CocCay open back up?
Unfortunately, we don't know for certain, as I couldn't find any articles about it from Royal Caribbean, but we can make some predictions. Some reasonable guesses that I've seen online are: When COVID-19 cases go down, and when the vaccine is released. Again, these are all simply predictions.
When the island does eventually reopen, what can we expect?
Currently, onboard Quantum of the Seas in Singapore, masks are required everywhere except for your stateroom, pools/water activities, and obviously, when you're eating. Before you board the ship, you have to have a negative test result for the virus, screening, and reduced exposure. Once you're onboard, they require you to be constantly sanitizing, and all passengers and crew must wear a new contact tracing bracelet. This is for if someone onboard gets sick, the crew can easily contact where that person has been on the ship, and can notify passengers who have been around them.
Can we expect these protocols on CocoCay when it reopens? My predictions are that CocoCay likely won't be a destination for cruises until the vaccine becomes more popular, and majority of people who're planning to vacation have gotten it.
As of right now, there isn’t much news for the islands future, so I truly hope this blog post has inspiried you, and gotten you excited for when the island really does open back up!
